About the Artist…
Marilyn Marquez is an emerging artist working in a variety of media. Born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela, she didn't pursue her art until she moved to the United States in 2002. Mostly self taught, she has studied with several artists, among them Lynn Horan, Laura Curran and Amy Burris
Marilyn's work has been described as bold, expressive and full of emotion. She focuses mostly in the spiritual aspect of her subjects, and tries to bring out those qualities through her work. Her pieces are full of strong color and contrasts, as if they were illuminated by the Caribbean sun of her native Venezuela. She currently lives and paints in her home studio of Agawam, Massachusetts
